Feature glossary

Every ActionOS feature, explained

The pricing page uses real product terms, not marketing fluff — but a term is only useful if you know what it means. This page is the full definition for every one of them, in plain language, with no jargon left unexplained.

Plan Mode

Plan Mode is where you step back from today's single action and see the full path: every milestone, every action under it, and how much work is left against your daily pace. You can reorder actions, rewrite a title or definition of done, resize an action, delete one that doesn't apply to you, add your own, and approve an adaptive replan if the pace no longer fits.

Focus Mode

Focus Mode strips everything away except the one action you're doing right now: its title, its definition of done, an optional countdown timer, and an optional background sound. No other goals, no task list, no notifications competing for attention — just the next right action until it's done.

Recover Mode

Recover Mode replaces the guilt-driven "you're behind" screen with a real choice: a five-minute version of your next action, a small preparation step, a low-energy admin task, or simply a rescheduled plan. Reduced progress still counts — Recover Mode exists so a bad day doesn't turn into a bad month.

AI-generated path

When you type a goal, ActionOS calls an AI planning step that converts it into a structured path: milestones, and under each one, small actions with a clear verb, a concrete object, a time estimate, and a definition of done. This is the one step in the product with a real per-use cost, which is why it's the feature most directly tied to your plan.

Active goal

ActionOS tracks a single active goal at a time for every plan today — starting a new goal archives whichever one was active before (it stays in your goal history, it just stops being the one driving Today, Plan, Progress and Accountability). This isn't a storage limit; it's how the app is designed to keep you focused on one thing.

ActionOS Original

ActionOS Originals are complete, ready-to-follow paths ActionOS writes and owns directly (e.g. "Validate a Business Idea in 14 Days") — milestones, actions, and check-ins built from a real, proven process, not generated by AI. Following an Original requires Pro or above.

Momentum Score

Momentum measures real forward movement on the current goal: how much of the path is done, weighted toward what you have finished recently. It is separate from the day streak on your stats page, which counts consecutive days with any completed action or focus time.

Adaptive replanning

Instead of marking a missed action as a failure, adaptive replanning asks what actually changed — was the action too big, is the deadline unrealistic, are you blocked — and proposes a smaller or rescheduled version of the upcoming plan. You approve or dismiss the proposal; nothing changes without your say.

Weekly Review

The Weekly Review summarizes actions completed, focus time, milestones advanced, blockers and why, and upcoming workload — then proposes an adapted plan for the week ahead that you approve or dismiss. It lives on the Progress page alongside your stats and goal history.

Accountability partner

A social commitment lets you name one trusted person. They get a private link — no ActionOS account needed — which shows your promise, your progress on that one goal, and a message thread. They can write to you any time, and you get a notification when they do. They never see your email address or anything else about your account. Pro and above.

Commitment

A Commitment is a promise attached to a goal, with an optional review date. A personal commitment involves nobody else. A social commitment names one person who gets a private link, can see your progress on that goal, and can message you in a thread you both share. There is no money involved anywhere in ActionOS — financial commitments were designed early on and then cut from the product, and nothing in the app puts anything at stake except your word.

Action Profile

Set once during onboarding (and editable anytime in Settings): how much time you have per day, which days you work, your typical energy pattern, and whether you prefer gentle or firm accountability. Every AI-generated path is personalized against this profile.

History

Every goal you have ever started, on the Progress page under Goal history. Starting a new goal archives the previous one rather than deleting it. Data export — a full copy of everything the app holds about you — is available on every plan, including Free.

Wins wall

When you complete an action you can choose to publish it to a public wall, under your name or anonymously. You see the exact card before it posts. Nothing is ever published automatically, an anonymous post stores no name at all, and no post ever shows an email address. You can remove any of your own posts at any time.

Add-on

An add-on unlocks one specific feature and bills separately from your plan, monthly or yearly. You can buy one on any plan including Free, and cancel it without touching your plan. Elite includes every add-on automatically, now and as new ones ship.

Focus session

Starting Focus Mode opens a session; leaving it closes one. The time recorded is what actually elapsed, not what you planned: abandon a 25-minute timer after four minutes and it records four. Sessions are what the stats page counts when it tells you how many times you started something and how long you have focused.
